Supplier name

Promatica Digital Ltd, Heart Centre Ltd, Bennett Road, Leeds, LS6 3HN. This plan covers all of Promatica Digital Ltd’s UK operations. The company has no subsidiaries and no operations outside the UK.

Commitment to achieving net zero

Promatica Digital Ltd is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2045, in line with the NHS target for the emissions it can influence.

Promatica is a small, fully remote digital health company providing software and clinical services to NHS primary care and life sciences partners. We have no premises of our own and no company vehicles, so our footprint is small and sits almost entirely in Scope 3. We want to keep it small as we grow, and to support the NHS’s own net zero ambitions through the services we provide.

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced in the past, before carbon reduction strategies were introduced. They are the reference point against which emissions reduction is measured.

Baseline year 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 (financial year 2025/26)
Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations This is Promatica’s first Carbon Reduction Plan, so the baseline year and the current reporting year are the same. The financial year was chosen because it is the most recent complete year for which full financial records are available. Emissions are reported in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) and cover the seven Kyoto Protocol greenhouse gases.
Emissions Total (tCO2e)
Scope 1 0.0
Scope 2 0.0
Scope 3 (included sources) 5.0
Total emissions 5.0

Current emissions reporting

Reporting year 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026
Emissions Total (tCO2e)
Scope 1 0.0
Scope 2 0.0
Scope 3: Category 4, upstream transportation and distribution 0.05
Scope 3: Category 5, waste generated in operations 0.05
Scope 3: Category 6, business travel 0.95
Scope 3: Category 7, employee commuting (including homeworking) 3.92
Scope 3: Category 9, downstream transportation and distribution 0.01
Total emissions 5.0

How these figures were calculated. Scope 1 and 2 are zero because Promatica has no premises, no company vehicles and no directly purchased fuel or electricity; Heart Centre Ltd provides a registered address only. Business travel was estimated from the company’s recorded national travel spend (£2,459) using the UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors, assuming an even split between rail (about 4,900 passenger km) and mileage in employees’ own cars (about 2,700 miles). Homeworking was estimated for 13 full time equivalent staff working about 1,650 hours a year, using the UK Government 2025 homeworking factors for office equipment (0.03144 kgCO2e per hour) and heating (0.30234 kgCO2e per hour, applied to the heating season). Staff work from home, so there are no commuting journeys. Upstream and downstream transportation (temperature monitoring hardware and occasional postage) and waste are very small and have been estimated conservatively. As our data improves, we will move from spend based estimates to recorded journeys and supplier data, and restate the baseline if the change is material.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will fall to 3.5 tCO2e by 2030, a reduction of 30% against the 2025/26 baseline, even as the business grows.

Year 2025/26 (baseline) 2027/28 2030/31 2035/36 2045
Target emissions (tCO2e) 5.0 4.5 3.5 2.0 Net zero

Carbon reduction projects

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2025/26 baseline, and will be in effect when performing contracts:

  • Remote first operating model. Promatica operates without offices, which removes premises energy use and staff commuting.
  • Digital delivery. PRISM and our services are delivered digitally to GP practices, so practice onboarding, training, clinical review and reporting take place remotely, avoiding travel for our team and for NHS staff.
  • Virtual meetings by default. Customer, partner and internal meetings are held online unless meeting in person adds clear value.
  • Cloud hosting. PRISM runs on shared cloud and data centre infrastructure (Microsoft Azure UK South and Redcentric), which is more energy efficient than on premises servers.
  • Paperless working. Contracts, records and reporting are managed electronically.

Future carbon reduction initiatives

  • Introduce a sustainable travel policy: rail first for business travel, with car journeys only where rail is impractical, and car sharing encouraged.
  • Record business travel by journey (mode and distance) from 2026/27, so future reports use measured activity data rather than spend.
  • Give homeworking staff guidance on energy efficiency and switching to renewable electricity tariffs.
  • Extend the life of laptops and equipment, and reuse or recycle end of life devices and temperature monitoring hardware through accredited WEEE routes.
  • Ask key suppliers (cloud hosting, hardware and logistics) for their own carbon reduction plans and emissions data, and favour suppliers with credible net zero commitments.
  • Review this plan at least annually, report progress and update targets as the business grows.

Declaration and sign off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standards for Carbon Reduction Plans, and with NHS England’s carbon reduction plan requirements for the procurement of NHS goods, services and works.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard, and use the appropriate UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors for company reporting. Scope 1 and 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with the SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions has been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
